[ shit, shit. he realizes his world might sound just as interesting to her, too. ... okay, probably not. it's so slice of life. ] Oh, you know. My world is high school. Grades, football, college-prep... Stuff like that.
And no problem. It's for both those that are trained in combat as well as healers. If there's an incident -- as there often is, I'd say -- they're called together to more efficiently handle it.
[ It's a lot more interesting than he thinks it is to be honest. Ishtar is more fascinated with the world way different than her own and she was curious to say the least, really. ]
I don't exactly know what all of that means. I know school is a place for education. What is "High School" and all the other stuff like football and college-prep? Oh alright, I definitely will look into it since I like to be of use in some way or form. I'm glad to hear that there is something like that for both people who can fight those that cannot.
[ She smiled softly as she listened to his words. Ishtar enjoyed helping people so that definitely piqued her interest. ]
[ but he's willing to answer; he did bring it up, and he understands the curiosity and thirst for knowledge. so, smoothly and in order: ]
High school comes after middle school. Where I'm from, nine years of education is compulsory; high school is an optional extra three years, but most people go on to it anyway. It opens more doors as far as jobs go— and college comes afterward, wherein people specialize further. ... Thus the "college-prep"; getting into a college is no joke.
[ he knows that was fast must've been a bit tedious to listen to... he hopes his tone indicates that he's open to questions. ]
And American football is a sport. [ ... his life, really. ] Well, it's a lot more than that.
Oh, is it? I'm sorry. Maybe I shouldn't have asked.
[ She replied giving him a worried look. She didn't think it was that tough of a question but maybe the explanation was pretty long, maybe. ]
...
[ Ishtar carefully listens as he explains it as brief as he can. She doesn't seem to get it well right away but she tries her best anyhow. The girl waits a moment before speaking after he finishes. ]
School sounds really obnoxious. You have to do all of that just to get an education? It's so complicated.
[ She furrowed her brows a little before listening to the football comment. ]
[ he waves his hand, flustered as he tries to wave off the apology. that wasn't her fault; he's intent on taking the credit for his awkwardness.
his smile becomes crooked. ]
It's obnoxious in it's length, I suppose. Undoubtedly, it would be shorter if we were allowed to specialize from the get-go. [ really, even if he thinks the subject useful, he doubts those with an interest in sociology have much use for a calculus class. ] But... It's fun, I think. I like it.
[ he blinks at her question. ]
Right, a full-contact one. You have to wear protective gear and all, as it can get pretty violent. [ "really violent", if you play it like he does. alas, he knows it's not for everyone. ] You have a favorite sport back home, maybe?
[ That makes the two of them being awkward. She'll try her best to not be as awkward in the future. Meeting new people is an interesting experience in itself, though. She's glad to see that he's smiling at the very least. ]
I see, so they don't really offer "specialized" stuff from the beginning at all?
[ It makes sense since Ishtar thinks the same way. She doesn't like using anything that isn't useful to her foals, however if she really needs it, she'll attempt to do it. ]
That doesn't sound safe at all. It's a game right? Why would people get violent in the first place?
[ She believes in fair game and other things, but she's idealistic, so-- yeah. ]
Humm... well I love horse riding. Too bad I haven't found any stables here. Do you know if this place has it?
Ah, well... You can pick and choose some classes. But there's where clubs can make up for limitations; for instance, if you're interested in mathematics beyond what classes offer, that's when you could join in after school programs.
[ marco nods at her analysis of the sport; it's not inaccurate. ]
... Thankfully, with the gear is place, usually severe injuries can be avoided. [ aha. ] And people get violent because that's how you can win, I'd say.
[ as for her last question, that requires a bit of thought. horses, had he ever seen any? even monstrous ones? ... well. perhaps in miniature cybuddy form. ]
—I don't think so, unfortunately. The only real, live animal I've ever seen here was someone's dog.... [ hm. ] But if you want to, I imagine ViViD could cater to that.
Huh, they offer those kinds of things too? That's kind of neat. I like that idea though to progress with something you like outside of those so called "classes" was it? Man I feel so old fashioned compared to you.
[ She chuckles a little as she furrows her brow together. ]
I see that's good to hear. I'm glad people don't get severely injured. At least, one can hope anyway.
[ Ishtar knew it was a long shot but it didn't hurt to ask what she asked. ]
AW, shame. Oh well, I'll figure it out somehow and sure I think the ViViD thing might be useful for just that. I'll look into it. Thanks!
[ it's interesting to consider it like that, marco thinks. but, yes. he can agree that it is nice— a bit privileged on his part too, perhaps.
and he also chuckles. ]
Right. Even if permitted, it's awful to see others get hurt like that. Better avoided if possible, really. [ more casual agreement. with how smoothly he states this, it's likely difficult to know that he usually.. advocates for hurting the other team as much as he's capable of. a shame to see others hurt, indeed. ]
Yeah. [ a beat. his mouth quirks into a renewed smile, allowing himself a small tilt of the head. ] You know, I've never actually ridden a horse before. If you'd like some company doing that some time, let me know.
[ In some way yes, but Ishtar is a bit ignorant on that topic so she's going roll with everything to the best of her abilities for now. ]
Yep. I think it's safer that way but it can be a bit idealistic on my part seeing I know nothing about this game that you talk about. I hardly know what "school" is either.
[ She brightens a little at his suggestion and comment. ]
Yes that sounds wonderful. I'd love to teach you if you want to learn. Horse Riding is pretty amazing when you've got the right horse and the right scenario. Sometimes it helps gets rid of your worries and everything.
Kaa~ Definitely seems like something worth taking up, if so.
[ he wonders if it'll actually relax him... he doubts it, but hey, it's worth a try if she says so (and learning, especially— he won't be able to reiterate his gratitude enough for that). he's clearly pleased with the acceptance, his demeanor brightening in turn. ]
Cool, cool. Well, once we're out of here [ this ViViD level, obvsly ] contact me whenever's good for you— I'll make time.
Yep. I'd like to have a friend to ride around with as well.
[ She chimed with a bigger smile on her face. It's been a long time since she was able to talk about things in a carefree manner. He's really nice, friendly and patient in regards to what she has to say and stuff. ]
Sure, I'll definitely go ahead and toss you a message when I get the chance and when I figure out if there's really such things here.

Yeah, I'm not too worked up on one on ones if you get me. I think I heard of it. Can you tell me a little more about it?
